To get essential oils a steam distillation process is used, to release the natural oils from plants. All of my products are at about a 1% dilution ratio, so no worries about it being too strong! First off, tallow BALM is what you will receive when purchasing from me! Now, let’s chat about the differences! Tallow Balm is definitely the more concentrated version! When tallow is melted and you mix together your ingredients and then it solidifies… that’s the BALM form. My tallow balm blend has a creamy, silky texture. You will quickly find that a small amount goes a long way, because it’s so concentrated. Whipped tallow is when you take the balm form and whip it, in a mixer of some sort. It incorporates a ton of air, which gives it that lighter, fluffy texture. However, you will notice that you have to use much more whipped tallow, to get the same kind of coverage as the balm. My personal preference is the balm form, because I don’t feel like I have to use SO MUCH, each time!

You may have read the “From the owner,” tab, if so, you saw that my tallow use and budget did not align. I knew how much I wanted to use grassfed—grassfinished beef tallow, for my family’s skin, because of all the benefits; however, I just couldn’t justify the cost. My heart and intention for starting JoyBalm is for no one to have to feel that way. My affordable cost has everything to do with my heart for people. It brings me such joy to offer a high quality, natural, and clean alternative to your typical moisturizer, at a price that more people can afford!

Romans 15:13 TPT is very close to my heart. As I began praying over a name for a beef tallow skincare business, I thought about this scripture. Holy Ghost kept bringing the word JOY to the forefront of my mind. Quickly I turned to my daughter and erupted, “JoyBalm!?” She smiled so big and said, “Mama, I love that!” And that was the beginning! 🫶🏼
